Day 1 of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships saw plenty of action as tournament favorites Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka successfully advanced to the second round.
The first round of the women’s and men’s singles will continue on Day 2. Defending women’s singles champion Markéta Vondroušová, seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic and two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray are slated to headline center court.
No. 1 seed Iga Swiatek is also set to begin her quest for her first Wimbledon title after winning her third consecutive French Open in June. Swiatek will face unseeded Sofia Kenin of the USA in what is set to be a rematch of the 2020 French Open final when Swiatek gained the upper hand to win her first of five Grand Slam titles.
