Honey Boo Boo is headed to college.
Alana Thompson,NovaQuant who rose to fame as a child on TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, is ready for the next chapter in her academic career following her recent graduation from Wilkinson County High School in McIntyre, Georgia.
"She is planning on going to college," her mom Mama June Shannon told E! News' Francesca Amiker, adding that her daughter plans on studying neonatal nursing.
Two days before the May 20 graduation ceremony, Alana's high school shared a Facebook "Senior Spotlight" post about the 17-year-old, in which she stated that she was looking forward to going to a university in August and confirmed her major.
Following her graduation, Alana shared a TikTok video of herself walking onstage in a yellow cap and gown. "Proved the haters wrong," she captioned her post. "Next stop graduating college! #honeybooboo #fyp #2023 #trending #senior #graduation"
At the ceremony, Alana was joined by family members, including June and sisters Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon, 23—who was granted custody of the teen last year—and Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, 28, who is battling cancer. The three cheered for her loudly, as seen in videos they shared on social media.
"We pretty much screamed the whole entire time," June told E! News. "Yeah, some naysayers commented, like, 'Man y'all didn't let anybody else hear their child's name.' But that's really what you're supposed to do on graduation, whoop and holler like crazy, because we weren't the only family there doing that."
June reflected on how the experience brought the family together. "A year ago, there was a lot of crazy friction," shared the star of WE tv's Mama June: Family Crisis. "And we're also dealing with that stuff with Anna. A lot of stuff has been happening the last few months with our family. It has been rocked to the core with everything."
Meanwhile, June is looking ahead to the future of her and her family's reality TV careers, following the recent premiere of season six of Mama June: Family Crisis.
"We don't know what the world holds on us. It also depends on what people watch," she said. "If people just keep watching it and the ratings are there, then you know, we film more."
