At last, it's finally here. Super Bowl Sunday.
After two weeks of hype and (over-)analysis, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are ready to take the field at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to determine this season's NFL champion.
The Chiefs are making their sixth Super Bowl appearance in franchise history – and fourth in the last five years. Meanwhile, the 49ers are playing in their ninth Super Bowl.
These teams' paths also intersected five years ago in Super Bowl 54 as Kansas City emerged with a 31-20 win.

How to watch Chiefs vs. 49ers in Super Bowl 2024
- The Chiefs and 49ers kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on CBS. The game is also available to stream via Paramount+ and Fubo.
Super Bowl 2024 matchup: Chiefs (11-6) vs. 49ers (12-5)
Super Bowl 58 will feature two teams with potent offenses and staunch defenses.
While the Chiefs went 11-6 during the regular season, this team was much different from their previous versions. For starters, QB Patrick Mahomes' typically high-powered offense barely cracked the NFL's top 10 in total yards and ranked 15th in scoring at 21.8 points per game. The strength of the 2023 Chiefs was on the defensive side of the ball. They ranked second in yards allowed (289.8 per game) and second in scoring (17.3 points per game).
The 49ers are led on offense by second-year quarterback Brock Purdy, who keeps proving doubters wrong with every successive win. In addition, Christian McCaffrey led the NFL in rushing this season by a considerable margin. On defense, San Francisco ranked No. 8 in the league in yards allowed (303.9 per game) and third – just behind Kansas City – in scoring (17.5 points per game).
